India’s Tea Industry has been growing consistently for longer than a century. In 2021, the entire value of the industry stands at $1.7 Billion. According to Tea import-export data of India with Cybex exim, India is the mainstream exporter of tea for China, USA, CIS, UK, Iran, Russia, Germany, Japan, and Poland. Recently, the country India has been pronounced as the second largest tea producer in the world with a record of 74 Million kg tea production. China is first in the line as India beats Kenya in 2021. Kenya and Sri Lanka are also competitors.
Due to such a huge move by India’s tea production and exporters, China has stepped forward. In a span of 2-4 months, China has increased its production of tea by 10%. Not only this, but it has also planned to improve quality to knock India out of the race. With an 11% increase in India’s Tea Exports and Production, China is largely targeting countries like the USA, UAE, and Germany for tea exports.
As a consequence, China has declined to import tea from India any further. Henceforth, Iran becomes the largest importer of Indian tea. In 2019, Iran imported Indian tea worth 122.33 Million USD. In the upcoming years, Indian tea producers and exporters are claiming to export over 35 million kg of tea to Iran. Among the categories of tea, black tea (of India) is tremendously popular.
In the past few years, UAE and India have come to a comprehensive understanding of international trade. According to India’s Tea Exports, exporters receive payments for products exported instantly from the Iran-based importers as the INR-Rail currencies standstill now.
